With nearly $60 million in new 2010 funding expected for NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate and another $150 million in 2009 stimulus money, NASA Associate Administrator Jai-won Shin is walking on air.rnAs the mission directorate's top manager, Shin is planning to use the $60 million budget increase to stand up a new office focused on exploring and demonstrating some of NASA's most promising innovations in the field of aeronautics. Dubbed the Integrated Systems Research Program, the effort will dedicate the next five or six years to maturing so-called "green aviation" technologies aimed at reducing aircraft fuel consumption, noise and emis-rnsions.
