The main business of the commercial fixed satellite services (FSS) industry worldwide - leasing C- and Ku-band transponders to commercial and government customers - is expected to grow by an average annual rate of 3.5 percent over the next five years, according to ingions that are expected to see much higher growth. India and the surrounding region, sub-Sa-haran Africa and certain areas of South America are expected to grow by more than 4 percent per year, offsetting the modest increases in demand expected in North America, Western Europe and Southeast Asia.
