With two months to go before it is scheduled to select the company that will produce instrumented avionics rings for the Ares 1 crew launch vehicle, NASA quietly and unexpectedly narrowed the field of contenders to two finalists.rnA total of five teams submitted proposals this summer for the nine-year Instrument Unit Avionics (IUA) contract expected to be worth an initial $300 million.
