Loral Space and Communications will expand its satellite-production capacity by using unnamed third-party capacity and optimizing its existing facilities with a capital expense of $40 million over two years instead of the $150 million estimated previously, Loral Chief Executive Michael Targoff said.In a Nov. 8 conference call with investors on Loral's financial results, Targoff said New York-based Loral remains committed to expanding Space Systems/Loral's satellite-building capacity to handle nine spacecraft per year.
