Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSB) plans to issue requests for bids this year for what may be a dual- or triband telecommunications satellite as the company' plots its expansion in the Middle East and perhaps Africa. The decision to order a new satellite to replace the aging Thor 3 spacecraft at Telenor's 1 degree west longitude orbital slot, coupled with Telenor's decision in late 2005 to purchase the Thor 2R satellite, is further evidence that the company's parent owner, majority state-owned Telenor,' has no plans to sell the satellite operator, company officials said.
