The hopes of many supporters of actual space exploration were raised sky high when the final report of the Aldridge Commission was released. Almost everything in the report was right, and was just what most of the supporters wanted to hear. A long list of excellent and very helpful recommendations was included, from urging greater dependence on private enterprise for access to Earth orbit, to recognition of the need for affordable heavy lift launch vehicles. There were some unavoidable disagreements, such as the first destination, a few disappointments and concerns that some items were not covered. I raise these concerns in a constructive spirit, and they should not tarnish a remarkable achievement by the commission members and staff.
