The U.S. Air Force extended the mission for the first spacecraft built under the Pentagon's Space Test Program Standard Interface Vehicle (STP-SIV) program for one year following completion of the primary mission. STPSat-2 was launched in November 2011 and completed its primary mission requirements Jan. 31, Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp., which built the satellite, said in an April 13 press release. Boulder, Colo.-based Ball will continue to provide space vehicle support to STPSat-2 under contract to the Air Force's Space Development and Test Directorate at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., through Feb. 1,2013.
