China launched a Yaogan 14 remote sensing satellite May 10 aboard a Long March 4B rocket, China's state-run Xinhua News Agency reported. Liftoff from the Taiyuan Satellite Center in Shanxi province in northern China occurred at 3:06 p.m. Beijing time. Also onboard was a 9-kilogram satellite dubbed Tiantuo 1 that Xinhua said will "mainly be used for data reception for the satellite-based vessel Automatic Identification System, optical imaging and various space exploration experiments in orbit."
