Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems of Tewksbury, Mass., received contracts via a foreign military sale totaling $1.1 billion to produce the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System for Taiwan, according to a Dec. 23, 2009, Raytheon press release.rnThe U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command at Redstone Arsenal, Ala., issued a $965.6 million initial ground system hardware contract and a $134.4 million initial spares contract to Raytheon for the work. The development will feature new technologies and machine-to-machine interfaces that will reduce total lifecycle costs as compared with earlier versions of the Patriot Air and Missile Defense System, the release said. Raytheon is the prime contractor for the Patriot system and its Patriot Advanced Capability-3 missiles, which it provides to U.S. allies around the world.
