1. Just as on Earth, 'security' has become an ever-growing feature of outer space, with areas previously not considered to have military significance now deemed to have security needs. Debates over the militarization or weaponization of space fail adequately to address this change in outlook. So argues an academic at Bristol University, who calls for a new framework of analysis of space policy to take account of the ways in which non-military issues come to be seen as issues of security.rn2. An even newer phenomenon is that of xenoarchaeology, or the study of material evidence of astrobiological activity, something which will grow as planetary exploration advances. It is thus necessary to formulate scientific, policy and sociological guidelines for this study now to avoid inaccuracies and negative impacts in the future. In his speculative viewpoint Ben McGee sets out his principles for a suitable methodology and applies them to three potential scenarios.
