The BIS's Technical Projects are the heart of our work to advance knowledge in astronautics. Our projects have a rich heritage - one of the first designed a lunar lander in 1938. Since then they have included the Daedalus Interstellar Probe in 1978, lunar colonies and 'world ships'. More recently, some of our projects have been more practical, like our involvement in KickSat which unfortunately re-entered without deploying the BIS and other 'Sprites'. Three Technical Projects are currently underway. 1. Project Icarus is an international collaboration to design an interstellar probe as an updated successor to Project Deadalus.
