摘要

Nonlinear enhancement of convective instability in a sparsely packed porous medium due to the horizontal magnetic field is studied. The Boussinesq approximation is applied to Darcy Lapwood Brinkman (DLB) model. In linear and nonlinear stability analysis, normal mode method is employed to find the critical modes and occurrence of distinct instabilities. A nonlinear two-dimensional Landau-Ginzburg (LG) equation is derived and discussed Nusselt number and primary instabilities. Two coupled one-dimensional LG equations near the onset of oscillatory convection at super-critical Hopf bifurcation are derived, the secondary instability regions of travelling and standing waves are identified.
