Quantum electrodynamics is a well-accepted theory. But, we believe it useful to look at formalisms which provide alternative ways to describe light, because the development of quantum field theories based primarily on the gauge principle have, in recent years, met with considerable difficulties. There are numerous generalized theories and, mainly, they are characterized by introducing some addi- tional parameters and/or longitudinal modes of electromagnetism.
