摘要

I was appointed as Editor of Statistical Methods and Applications in July 2011. The aim of this Editorial is to inform our readers and members of the Italian Statistical Society of the activities that our Journal has undertaken since then. However, before starting my "white list" of achievements and desiderata, I must heartily thank the past Editors, Professors Francesco Battaglia and Maurizio Vichi, under whose direction the Journal has gained much international relevance and has achieved important goals. Professor Francesco Battaglia was also kind enough to keep on his editorial role for the manuscripts submitted before July 2011, thus ensuring a smooth transition period. It is a great honour for me to follow Francesco in this editorial position. My main purpose is to continue his work in improving the scientific impact of Statistical Methods and Applications as a premier communication medium in all fields of Statistics, including their applications.
