摘要

The Institut fuer Eisenhuettenkunde (Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy) is engaged in teaching and research in the field of production, manufacturing and application of iron and steel. The research work is directed to the improvement of iron- and steelmaking techniques and steel properties under economical and environmental aspects. The work is performed in two main departments, figure 1, working in close co-operation of which the Department of Process Metallurgy is co-ordinated by Professor Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirtsch.-Ing. Heinrich Wilhelm Gudenau and the Department of Materials Technology and Testing is coordinated by Professor Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Bleck who is also head of the Institute. Although already retired, Professor Dr. rer. nat. Dr.-Ing. e. h. Winfried Dahl and Professor Dr.-Ing. Tarek El Gammal take an active part in the research activities of the institute. The Institut fur Eisenhuttenkunde, table 1, is integrated in the group of Metallurgy and Material Engineering within the Faculty of Mining, Metallurgy and Geological Science of Aachen University of Technology.
