A one-sided debate is not a healthy affair, especially when the subject at issue is one that combines the two highly uncertain disciplines of science and economics. Yet that is just what the Western world has been conducting on the question of climate change. The 'inconvenient truth' about global warming that has been publicised by former US Vice President Al Gore has become convenient and conventional wisdom, even if there is much disagreement over what to do about it.
