摘要

Baublis is the name of one of the most famous and mighty oaks in the history of Lithuania. The tree was cut in 1812. The tree was even commemorated in Pan Tadeusz, the work of our great poet Adam Mickiewicz. The authors of this paper made an attempt to estimate the diameter, age, height and volume of Baublis. Were the dimensions of this oak so exceptionally large? The authors try to answer this question basing on dendrometric methods and old historical scripts.
