Experiments on the efficacy of the Duftzaun odour preparation were carried out within four forest districts: Skierniewice (RDSF Lodz), Pszczyna (RDSF Katowice), Ilawa and Przasnysz (RDSF Olsztyn). The experiments were carried out from October 1994 to May 1995. The efficacy of the Duftzaun odour preparastion (predator odour) was checked in four kinds of experiments: at protection of forest cultures, thickets, by-sides of local roads and fast traffic roads, and mid-forest farm cultures. An inefficacy of the Duftzaun odour preparation was found in all kinds of the experiments. During the entire experiment period a distinct decrease or lessening of injuries to seedlings and forest trees, of damage to mid-forest farm cultures, and of the numbers of ungulate game (Cervidae, Sus scrofa) passes across fast or local traffic roads were not found, although such an effect, if actual, could prevent accidents on roads.
