摘要

What is XML (Extensible Markup Language), and why is it important to catalogers and metadata librarians? One needs to read the book to understand and get to know what XML stands for and how it works with MARC (MAchine Readable Cataloging). Catalogers, such as this reviewer, who are used to MARC and understand only one way of doing descriptive cataloging have to move on and learn new ways of describing non-print materials. The book is written for us, as well as those who are metadata experts.
