A flame-retardant (FR), carbon fibre-reinforced polycarbonate (PC) compound that is made using bio-based and recycled materials, and displays the same properties as the incumbent made entirely from oil-derived materials, has been unveiled by SABIC.Called LNPThermocomp DC0041PE-7M1D145W, the compound could be used to injection-mould thin-walled parts, such as housings for consumer electronics, and such as surgical instruments that must demonstrate good dimensional stability.
