Shareholders in Ahlstrom and Munksjoe have given the go-ahead to the proposed merger of the two companies. At extraordinary general meetings (EGMs) held on 11 January 2017, both sets of shareholders accepted the plan put forward by the boards of the two companies on 7 November 2016. Ahlstrom, a nonwovens manufacturer with its headquarters in Helsinki, Finland, will now be merged into Munksjoe, a specialist in paper products based in Stockholm, Sweden, subject to the approval of the competition authorities.
