摘要

A standard (PDESP21) for highly aesthetic spread-tow carbon fibre fabrics has been developed by Oxeon of Boras, Sweden. Oxeon makes its TeXtreme fabrics using a tape weaving technology that produces spread tows of carbon fibre that have a thin profile. As a result, composites manufacturers can pack more fibre into a given volume than is the case when working with yarns, or use fewer fibres (resulting in up to 20-30% lighter-weight components) to achieve the same mechanical properties.
