Five institutes in Dresden, Germany, are cooperating to create what they describe as the world's largest research centre for fibre-based materials for high-performance applications. Officially founded on 28 October 2016, the Research Centre for High-Performance Fibres, Structures and Textile Machine Development (HP Fibre Structures) will combine the resources of: 1. the Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology (ITM) attheTechnische Universitat Dresden (TU Dresden); 2. the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and PolymerTechnology (ILK) also part of TU Dresden; 3. the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF); 4. the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and BeamTechnology Dresden (IWS); 5. the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS).
