Freudenberg Nonwovens is investing several million euros to improve the quality of products coming off its spunlaid production lines in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and Durham, North Carolina, USA. The company, which has its headquarters in Weinheim, Germany, and until recently laid claim to being the world's largest manufacturer of nonwovens, says the investments at both facilities will be used to upgrade the technology of existing lines. Following completion, which is due to be in the fourth quarter of 2014, the lines will be able to make nonwovens with better performance characteristics than is presently the case.
