摘要

In dye-sublimation printing the ink penetrates the substrate rather than simply coating its surface, a key difference between this approach and other printing processes. Heat turns the ink from a solid into a gas (without it passing through a liquid phase) and causes the pores of the fibres to open so that the gaseous dye can permeate the substrate, which must be polyester (PES) or PES-coated. When the fibres subsequently cool, the pores close, fusing a high-resolution, permanent image into the substrate.
