Lenzing AG is to take over the exclusive production of the speciality lyocell fibres, called smart-eel and SeaCell,that are currently made by their developer, smart-fiber AG,at a pilot plant in Rudol-stadt, Germany. The two companies say the move will save costs and speed up the commercial exploitation of the fibres. Lenzing will integrate the new facility into its existing cellulose production site, which it describes as the largest of its kind in the world, in its home town of Lenzing, Austria, allowing it to make economies of scale.
