A fast-growing number of technologies are emerging with the potential to increase the functionalities of textiles considerably,and with their appearance the development of advanced and smart coatings is gathering pace, according to Professor Marc Van Parys, Head of the National Association for Executives in the Belgian Textile Industry (Unitex). The key demands from the technical textiles sector for high-performance coated products include multi-functionality, durability, reproducibility, ease and consistency of application, and tailored surface morphology.
