A packaging material adapted to the requirements of manufacturers that need to transport delicate parts from one section of the production line to another has been developed by Freudenberg Evolon of Colmar, France. A patented process makes the material, which is made from a highly entangled collection of microfilaments. The resulting fabric is soft and has a smooth surface, which protects highly sensitive surfaces and avoids micro-scratches, but is simultaneously strong, so it can be used to pack and transport heavy parts, claims Freudenberg Evolon. Further, the fabric is easy to clean for re-use and it is durable.
