Asia's importance, particularly that of China, to the textile machinery industry is well enough illustrated by the rapid growth of the exhibition dedicated to the region, ITMA Asia, the next edition of which takes place in Shanghai, China (12-16 June 2012). Further evidence is provided by a few of many examples of the local investments of major players and their reported sales figures for the region: Oerlikon Textiles has relocated its headquarters to Shanghai, China,from the start of 2012;Jakob Miiller's new production plant is just opening in nearby Suzhou;the Italian machinery industry says 25% of its exports in 2011,worth €450 million,were to Chinese companies.
