In July 2011, NatureWorks announced a major capital investment project at its plant in Blair, Nebraska, USA, for the production of new grades of its high-performance poly-lactic acid (PLA) biopolymers, which it sells under the name of Ingeo. Currently, the company has a capacity of 140 kt a year at Blair, and annually it is selling 90 kt, according to Business Development Manager, Eamonn Tighe. NatureWorks is a joint venture between Cargill of Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, and Teijin of Tokyo,Japan,and has its headquarters in Minnetonka, Minnesota.
