The Chinese fibre, textile and apparel industries have developed rapidly since the early 1980s. China P.R. is now the world's largest manufacturer and consumer of fibres, textiles and textile manufactured products. The opening up of the Chinese market over the past ten years has provided huge potential for Western exporters. However, it has also brought problems.The main challenge has been the enormous growth in Chinese textile and apparel exports, it is essential that Western companies are aware of the current state of the Chinese industries and their likely future development, but until now such information has been very difficult and expensive to obtain.
