When selecting coatings or laminates, buyers are often asking whether they shouldrnchose polyurethane, polyester or polytetrafluoroethylene,and microporous or hydrophilic? But these are not the correct questions, according to Volkmar Bartels.rnVarious protective clothing contains breathable laminates or coatings. Often, it is generally discussed as to whether microporous, hydrophilic or bicomponent membranes or coatings are favourable and which of these offers the better functionality.Alternatively, materials are compared: polyurethane (PU), polyester or polytetrafluoroethyl-ene (PTFE).
