There were plenty of causes for optimism in Frankfurt at the recent record-breakingrnTechtextil. In the first of a series of articles looking at the innovative products displayed,rnNick Butler finds that sustainability is a major driver in current developments.rnFighting hospital infectionsrnDevan Chemicals of Belgium launched maedical, an advanced antimicrobial technology that offers a durable treatment of textile materials that have to perform to stringent hospital laundry standards. Maedical can be applied to bedding, uniforms, operating theatre textiles, curtains, upholstery, wound dressings and bandages, the company told visitors to its stand.
