The Hans Walter Wild stadium (above) belonging to the German regional football team Spielvereinigung Bayreuth has the first pitch in Germany to feature artificial turf from XLTurf of Zug, Switzerland.rnThe XL artificial turf system does not use sand or rubber infill and instead has up to seven times more grass yarn and is as much as four times denser than rival products, claims the Swiss company.The underlying shock-absorption pad, called pits, is made from expanded polypropylene (EPP) and is produced and supplied by BASF, Germany, in different thicknesses and densities.
