Capacity for industrial nonwovens at Ahlstrom's plant in Turin, Italy, will be increased as a result of further investment announced on 13 December 2007 by the Finland-based company. The company plans to spend €10 million to rebuild one of its paper machines, which is currently producing release papers. The converted machine will then produce nonwovens for industrial applications, using wetlaid technology. Targeting customers within the construction & building industries, the rebuilt machine will be operational by the end of the first quarter of 2009,Ahlstrom says.
