摘要

Due to major developments in the manufacture of fibres and polymers, the functionality of textiles used for protection has taken major strides forward in the past 20 years. These developments have paved the way for protective garments to be designed for day to day wear. The second part of this review (see also, the October/November 2008 issue) outlines the test methods and standards that characterize the materials used; critically analyses the materials themselves;summarizes the major products available in the market; and attempts to predict the direction of future developments.
