Composix Co, a leading US manufacturer of vehicle armour, has selected Dyneema~® HB26 composite to fulfil an order from a major US Department of Defense contractor for a high-end armour system for combat vehicles. The composite's manufacturer, DSM Dyneema of The Netherlands, says that Dyneema HB26 unidirectional (UD) bullet-resistant composite offers a unique combination of light weight for enhanced vehicle mobility, manoeuvrability, and excellent ballistic performance. Composix will produce hard ballistic armour panels using Dyneema HB26 for about 1000 vehicles. Dyneema HB26 is based on the world's ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibre Dyneema.
