Participants at the Healthcare and Medical Textiles conference in Belfast, UK, came from a variety of backgrounds―from textile manufacturers to nursing staff. This unique mixture resulted in valuable discussions on a broad range of topics. The UK's Centre for Competitiveness, the organizer of the Healthcare and Medical Textiles conference (held in Belfast on 23-24 January 2003), set the event a number of key goals: 1. to bring together the medical community and the textiles sector; 2. to explore opportunities in the medical applications of technical textiles; 3. to show key innovations arising from current research (industrial and academic).
