During the Covid-19 pandemic, the nonwovens facility at the Saxonian Textile Research Insitute e. V. (STFI), Chemnitz/Germany, was used to manufacture spunbond nonwovens as a component for mouth and nose masks. As part of the cooperation between the mechanical and plant engineering company Reifenhauser Reicofil GmbH & Co. KG, Troisdorf/Germany, and the STFI in the field of spunbond fabrics, all relevant technology processes and units as well as the complete control of the spunbond nonwovens plant at the STFI have been adapted to the Reicofil 5 standard. With the successful upgrade, the STFI's Reicofil 4.5 system is now available for project and customer trials.
