摘要

Optical fibers can be integrated in textile fabrics, e.g. in order to illuminate technical textiles or garments. Such luminous accents can be used as design elements in clothing, but also to enhance traffic safety or in home textiles as emergency lighting. Since optical fibers must not be overbent before they lose their function and finally break, they can most easily be integrated in woven or similar textile fabrics where they keep a relatively even form. The article thus examines the influence of the weaving process on different optical fibers as well as the effect of the resulting damage on the transmission through the optical fiber.
