Air France-KLM will further cut tons from its annual aircraft CO_2 emissions, simply by using new lightweight cargo nets that are now being introduced. Just one new lightweight net with Dyneema will save Air France-KLM-Martinair Cargo over 210 gallons/year of kerosene fuel. That means CO_2 emissions will be over 2.5 tons/year less. The first nets, made with ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fiber, manufactured by DSM Dyneema, Heerlen/ Netherlands, were formally handed over at Schiphol airport in Amsterdam/Netherlands on July 9, 2013.
