The development of new table linen made from spunbond nonwovens for different outdoor applications was the focus of a 2008 finished research project in the Sachsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V. (STFI), Chemnitz/Germany.rnAccording to special requirements, the nonwovens characteristics are supposed to be optimized. It was examined, to what extent material combinations made of PP, PE, PET and PA can serve as basic materials. Bi-component spinning technology was particularly used for material processing. There were potentials included of adding side components via dosing system and thus producing polymer blends with special functional characteristics.
