In 2007 production of PP staple fibers increased from 32,000 tons in 2006 to 35,000 tons in 2007 based on an estimation by EATP, Brussels/Belgium. No major capacity changes took place during the last 3 years (2008: 51,500 tons/year). The production of PP filament yarn (CF and BCF yarns) was constant at 210,000 tons and the capacity is stable at 300,000 tons/year. In 2007 capacity for spunbond and meltblown nonwovens is about 80,000 tons year. The total PP fiber capacity has been estimated to be 440,000 tons/year in 2008/2009.
