It was in 1968 that I was approached by Elsevier journal editor Lore Henlein to start a journal on Technological Forecasting. The occasion was a workshop in Lake Placid, NY, at which I gave a presentation on the subject. I asked Erich Jantsch of Austria and Ralph Lenz of the US Air Force to join me as co-editors. The first quarterly issue appeared in June 1969 and the very first article was contributed by Nobel laureate Dennis Gabor.
