How many technology teachers have been asked this question after sharing what they do for a living? Even after 15 years with ITEEA, I sometimes have difficulty conveying to people outside the profession exactly what content technology and engineering teachers teach. Why is it important? The understanding and support of the general public can have a critical impact on funding and support and can compel parents to guide their children toward more technology and engineering courses-not to mention, motivate the students themselves to see the value of being better prepared for whatever their future has in store.
