Lao Tzu knew what he was talking about when he said that "A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step." How many of us have ever put off a task and then, once started, found that it wasn't so bad once we took that first step? When I tell people what I do for a living, they often comment that I must "love writing." Uh... no. I really enjoy helping other people's writing be the best it can be, but I struggle with writing as much as anyone. This editorial is a perfect example. It's been rolling around in my head for weeks, but I've dreaded working on it. Yet I have things I want to convey and now that I've started, well, I'm actually enjoying it...a little. That doesn't mean that I won't have at least ten iterations to anguish through before I feel it's finished-and even then I probably won't be happy with it. Sound familiar?
