Sweltering heat — with temperatures reaching 45°C (113°F) and above, and humidity of around 60–70% — are some of the environmental conditions exhibited in desert areas in the Middle East, vast stretches of Arizona in the U.S., and belts of the African continent. In such climatic conditions, it becomes especially difficult to operate datacenters. A great deal of power is required to regulate temperature and humidity to run an information technology (IT) infrastructure in the desert.
