Swine flu has been the latest concern globally. The most devastating outbreak was observed in Mexico in 2009 which was due to infection caused by H1N1 virus and since then, the disease has spread all over the world, in over 200 countries, taking millions of lives. In light of this, the Gwalior-based DRDO laboratory - Defence Research and Development Establishment (DRDE) - has developed a swine flu diagnostic kit that can detect the H1N1 virus within an hour.
