Photography has been growing at a steady pace. There's no need to tell you that there will be more cameras with even higher megapixel counts and longer optical zoom lenses next year. But ther are some major changes, for starters, we taklked about Micro Four Thirds in LD Dec 08. Micro Four Thirds, a new camera system, will enable digital SLRs with interchangeable lenses to be much smaller than usual and also more affordable. The system does away with the complicated moving mirror system and the huge pentaprism that DSLRs have. This means fewer moving parts and lesser things that can go wrong. Plus, since there's no mirror, it opens up the possibilities of high quality video recording by SLRs - which now is the preserve of only one or two (exorbitantly priced) professional level SLRs.
