The N85 gets off to a good start with a dual slide design, just like the N95 & N96. It offers all the usual high-end trappings of an N series device. You get quad band with 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, 5 MP cam with dual LED flash, 3.5mm audio out, TV out, N-Gage platform compatibility and a pretty good battery life. It also has an OLED screen which produces its own light rather than relying on a backlight; you consequently get far greater viewing angles and contrast ratios. The screen is perfectly viewable even in direct sunlight and the colors really pop. The only issue with this particular screen is the horizontal viewing angle; colors started changing when it's tilted off to one side. The FM transmitter a neat idea -just select a frequency to transmit on and play the music on your car stereo. You can also use it when you want a group of people with FM phones to listen in on your music. It has a good range of about 40 to 50 feet when used in an open area. For the first time, you get a Nokia phone that charges via USB. Only downside is that we now have a third type of Nokia charger in the mix. The N85 drops the dual ARM 11 processor architecture of the N95 and N96 in favor of a single 369 MHz one.
